“Kululeka” is loosely translated from isiZulu to mean “be free.”
“Lekka” is a word you’ll hear often while traveling through South Africa — a local slang term that means great, awesome, just right. It’s the kind of word you’d use while walking along a deserted beach, or standing at the summit of the Drakensberg with no one else in sight.
Together, Kululeka Travel is about freedom and feeling lekka — those moments when you’re completely immersed in nature, your breath catches, a smile spreads across your face, and you realise you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Kululeka Travel was born out of a desire to show the world the best of South Africa while addressing the common concerns of safety and cost. After hosting friends from around the globe and sharing our carefully crafted itineraries, we knew we had something special to offer.

While many tourism providers focus on well-known destinations, few venture into the wild and remote regions between Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and Durban, or reach the majestic heights of the Drakensberg. These are places of extraordinary natural beauty — untouched, unspoiled, and deeply worth protecting.
We’ve seen firsthand the impact that tourism can have when it’s not done responsibly. After traveling to many corners of the world and witnessing the degradation of once-pristine environments, we knew we had to do things differently.
That’s why sustainability is at the core of everything we do. From working closely with local communities to minimizing our environmental footprint, we strive to ensure that every journey helps preserve — not harm — the places we love.
